Domestic Violence Survivor Asks International Tribunal To Hold U.S. Responsible For Human Rights Violations

NEW YORK – The American Civil Liberties Union and Columbia Law School's Human Rights Clinic filed a merits brief with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) detailing their charges that the U.S. broke international law in violating the human rights of a domestic violence survivor. The brief was filed on behalf of Jessica Lenahan (formerly Gonzales), whose three daughters were kidnapped by her estranged husband and killed, and whose domestic violence protection claims were rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court....   1. What a sad story. I strongly believe the U.S should be held responsible. Especially because she had made several claims before her husband killed their 3 children. What a horrible outcome. I think it's sweet that she wants to make sure this doesn't happen to any other families, it never should. Have you heard about Biography channels new real-life series "I Survived"? It focuses on how individuals overcame unbelievable circumstances, such as surviving domestic violence. It's definitely a show that empowers the viewer to keep moving forward.
