Domestic violence front and centre following death of Airdrie woman

The tragic murder suicide of an Airdrie woman and her boyfriend has raised concerns of domestic violence.

It's believed Andrea Conroy's boyfriend, Rick Doucette, is responsible for her death.  He was found dead in a Nanton hotel of an apparent suicide.

Former friends and associates say Doucette had a history of violence and playing women.

Kevin McNichol, with Home Front, a domestic violence support network, says this horrible tragedy could have been prevented.

He says it's hard for women in a toxic relationship to see there is help out there for them.

McNichol says it's also important for friends and family to take action if they fear for the safety of a loved one, and that can be something as simple as asking the question and not being afraid of the answer.

A North Idaho woman, Rose Turner, nearly killed in a shootout with her estranged husband, Rick Turner, is now speaking out to about her personal experience with domestic violence as a warning to others.

Three found dead in Indianapolis House

Police are investigating the deaths of three family members on the city's southwest side. They received a 911 call from a cell phone about 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon from a man at the house, reporting a homicide-suicide. When they arrived at the residence, they found the three bodies, along with the cell phone that made the call and a suicide note. Police believe Stephen J. Johnson shot and killed his wife Renee G. Johnson, 49, and the couple's 14-year-old daughter Rebecca J. Johnson. Renee and Rebecca had been shot in the head before Johnson turned the gun on himself.

In a press release issued Wednesday, Indianapolis Police Chief Michael Spears has asked that people be made aware of the need to seek help and guidance when in difficult situations instead of resorting to violence. "There are numerous social agencies available to assist wherein solutions can be found. The use of violence only causes pain and despair and never solves the underlying problem," the statement said.

This is the second father who decided to commit murder-suicide in the past couple months in the city, taking the lives of their children, and destroying lives of those left behind! Father's rights???

But three days after the order was issued, a judge modified it and allowed weekend visitation by Stephens, according to police.... During a Jan. 22 hearing, Davis told Columbia County Judge Steve Reed that Stephens had threatened to kill her..................Despite that, Reed increased the amount of visitation granted to Stephens, allowing alternate weekend visitations. When Davis said she was concerned he might take off with the child, the judge told her the FBI would track him down, the recording revealed.... I really hope this wakes some people up and keeps this judge up at night, knowing that he made the decision that allowed this child to be killed.
