For domestic violence victims, help doesn't end when police leave the scene

For domestic violence victims, help doesn't end when police leave the scene
Read how this police department is handling follow-up on DV related calls. This is so great! At least a step in the right direction.Does your local police department do this, or anything like this, please let us know by leaving a comment!

  1. I think that this program is a great big step in the right direction for RI. I think that this pd should serve as a model for other law enforcement units through out our great country.

It is sad that wayyyy to often after the police leave "the scene" a victim is made to feel as though any further calls to the police would end with her feeling as though she is being a pain in the butt. Victims are for the most part not given the opportunity to "follow up" with law enforcement. I think that it is awesome that this unit is taking the proper measures to make a victim feel as though she made the right decision by contacting them from the beginning.
I truely feel that if more police departments show victims in their communities that it is ok to call them, and even follow up, that victims would be more apt to contact them when they are being abused.

    Just my 2 cents worth!
    Blessings, Valerie
