SENATE OVERWHELMINGLY APPROVES BILL TO PROTECT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS
On a 29-6 vote, the California Senate today overwhelmingly approved legislation to protect domestic violence victims from the threat of incarceration when they refuse to testify against their abuser in court. Senate Bill (SB) 1356, authored by Senator Leland Yee (D-San Francisco/San Mateo), mirrors existing law for sexual assault victims, who are already shielded from such punishment....
